WATCH: PEP Mini Netball at Winchester Ridge
The tournament is now played in all nine provinces.

Winchester Ridge Primary School hosted a successful maiden PEP Mini Netball on April 12.
Different local primary schools and beyond including Soweto participated in this tournament sanctioned by South African Schools Netball (SASN).
Some of the primary schools which participated include Winchester Ridge, Dalmondeor, Robertsham, Zibambele, Curro, Rutegang, Ezibukweni, McBain Charles, Busisiwe and Protea Glen.
PEP project manager for SASN and Gauteng provincial manager, Nellie Makhathini said their president at SASN, Di Wooley consulted PEP to sponsor the event which started in 2023 with three provinces; Gauteng, Western Cape and Free State.

“Last year three more provinces were added (North West, Northern Cape and Limpopo) and this year, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga were added.
“This is my third tournament this year and I’m left with five more to do. This year we also brought U7s even though they are still struggling with the ball and other techniques. The U10s are advanced while the U8s and U9s show great improvements.
“Last year we introduced a coaching course for the coaches under the tutelage of Eljse Jordan. This is a plus for the coaches. Some incentives are given to schools which include a tog bag with two sets of bibs and a ball, learners get PEP t-shirts and goody bags,” explained Makhathini.
The school’s principal, Nicholas Greyling welcomed the tournament. He said, “This is a lovely development for learners and a great outing for the parents. It is not often that we get a company to sponsor a great tournament in the South. The learners enjoyed it.”

Parents and friends supported the playing learners, they cheered and encouraged them to play enthusiastically.
