Former Barcelona player Francisco Trincão (25) is making a strong impact this season with Sporting CP and recently starred with a brace in Portugal’s 5-2 victory over Denmark, securing their place in the Nations League Final Four.
His outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed, and reports from Portugal suggest he is one of Manchester United’s top targets for the upcoming summer transfer window.

On Tuesday, the newspaper Record headlined that Sporting CP coach Rúben Amorim is keen to retain Trincão, while speculation grows that Manchester United could table an offer in the region of €35–40 million to secure his signing.
Amorim previously managed Trincão at Sporting Braga before his move to Barça and later brought him to Sporting CP.
Other Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Newcastle, are also reportedly monitoring the Portuguese winger.
As Trincão’s future remains uncertain, Barcelona is closely following developments, as they still stand to profit from a potential transfer.
The Catalan club sold him to Sporting CP in the summer of 2023 for a total of €10 million—€3 million as a loan fee and €7 million for the permanent transfer—but retained 50% of any future sale.
This clause could now translate into a significant financial boost for Barça. Additionally, the club holds a buyback option set at €25 million, valid until 2026.
If the reported transfer figures materialize, Barça could receive around €20 million from Trincão’s sale.
This windfall would be more than welcome as they look to reinforce the squad for next season. However, it remains to be seen whether Sporting CP is willing to part with one of their standout players this season.
After a few underwhelming years, Trincão is now demonstrating the potential that once earned him a move to Barcelona, and all signs point to him making the jump to a higher-level club this summer.
