FC Barcelona continued preparations for Thursday’s match against Osasuna (4:00 PM ET), and coach Hansi Flick called up young Alexis Olmedo (19 years old) for the first-team training session for the second day in a row.

With Araújo still away on international duty with Uruguay and Cubarsí dealing with discomfort in his right ankle, the Barça Atlètic defender is shaping up to be a possible replacement for the two center-backs in the squad for the game against the Navarrese side.

Alexis Olmedo had been a key player for the reserve team at the start of the season, but a stress fracture in his right femur sidelined him for the first two and a half months of 2025.

The defender returned in the recent match against Bilbao Athletic (2-2) and is expected to be an important player for Barça Atlètic for the remainder of the season.

So far, he has played 18 matches in the Primera RFEF and also appeared in one Youth League game.

It’s worth noting that Alexis Olmedo was one of the young players included in the first team’s preseason tour of the United States, although he did not feature in any of Barça’s friendlies. Now, he may finally get his chance to make his debut.
