University of Colorado head football coach Deion Sanders has signed a contract extension through the 2029 season, following a dramatic turnaround of the program over the past two years.

The extension increases Sanders’ annual base salary to $10 million, making him the highest-paid coach in the Big 12 Conference.
This new deal was finalized with three years still remaining on his original five-year, $29.5 million agreement signed when he joined Colorado from Jackson State.
“Coach Prime has revolutionized college football and in doing so, has restored CU football to our rightful place as a national power,” said athletic director Rick George in an official statement.
“This extension not only recognizes Coach’s incredible accomplishments transforming our program on and off the field, it keeps him in Boulder to compete for conference and national championships in the years to come.”
Under Sanders’ leadership, the Buffaloes posted a 9-4 record last season, earning a berth in the Alamo Bowl and renewing national attention around the Colorado football program.
